Natural Petrified Wood & Matt Polished Brass Square Coffee Table
Fossils are astonishingly interesting and, in a way express ample information about an era in a certain region. The tabletop is in petrified wood, literally witnessing a piece of history, making it legitimate to say that it's a beautiful material containing an abundance of soul.
Petrified wood is pure nature in it's most ultimate form, conceived by fossilized remains of earthly vegetation, results of millions of years of natural earthly progressions.
This rare process of turning wood into stone is called per-mineralization, meaning that all organic materials are being replaced by minerals (mostly a silicate, like quartz), whilst keeping the original structure of the wood. In comparison to other types of fossils which are typically impressions or compressions, petrified wood is a three-dimensional representation of the authentic organic material.
This natural petrification process occurs underground with a lot of patience, when the wood becomes buried under the sediment and is initially preserves due to a lack of oxygen which inhibits aerobic decomposition.
The Natural Coffee tabletop reflects the hues of the minerals that has filled it's pores, as copper, cobalt, chromium and manganese dispersing an unsurpassed iridescent hue. Supported on a textured matt and polished brass base.
